Launching Sustainable Black-Owned Businesses in the Urban Core
The Black MasterMind Group is committed to reducing disparities in the Black community by providing access to resources, education, and opportunity through our Retail and Food Incubator Program. This innovative program is designed to support emerging Black entrepreneurs as they develop, stabilize, and scale their business models within a supportive, community-centered environment.
About the Incubator
Located in Kansas City, Kansas, the Retail and Food Incubator provides up to three years of physical storefront space and comprehensive business development services for qualified entrepreneurs. The program is designed to help entrepreneurs establish a fundable, profit-generating business model that meets the standards of traditional lenders and positions them for long-term success.
What the Incubator Provides
Participants in the program receive:
Affordable Retail or Food Space for up to 3 years
Business Readiness Training led by experienced instructors and mentors
Business Credit Profile Setup & Management
Access to Loan Preparation Workshops
Support applying for a $15K Kiva Micro Loan to cover startup costs such as equipment, inventory, and materials
Ongoing Financial Coaching to build healthy credit, cash flow management, and profit strategy
Access to Capital Readiness: Positioning businesses to meet requirements from financial institutions like BMO Bank and others
Post-Incubator Success Path
After the 3-year incubation period, each entrepreneur will receive personalized loan prep and capital access support to secure funding for launching their business into a permanent location within the community. The goal is not just to support business creation—but to ensure long-term sustainability and economic impact.
